Dexter Park

Today not too many people remember Dexter Park, but in the first half of the twentieth century, Dexter Park played host to many of the top baseball stars of the majors and Negro Leagues right here in Woodhaven.
 
Dexter Park was not only a glorified baseball field but became a symbol mirroring social changes in the uniquely localized communities of NYC. Baseball was the medium.

Cypress Hills Cemetery

The Cypress Hills Cemetery was created as a result of the Rural Cemetery Association Act of 1847; the first cemetery organized in the New York area under this act.

The Southside Burial Ground in Ozone Park was laid out about 1680. It was established on the Van Wicklen farm and burials continued there until 1919.
